Our team consists of top-tier coaches, including Olympians and National Champions, who possess extensive knowledge and expertise in the sport. They are dedicated to helping individuals at every stage of their weightlifting journey, from beginners to elite athletes.
Head Coach
Wes Kitts
​Wes is a 2 time Olympian and has been a Team USA Olympic Weightlifter for over 8 years. The two Olympic births would come in 2020 in Tokyo and 2024 in Paris. During his career he has set numerous American records in 3 weight categories and has Pan American records in 2 weight categories. He received his formally training in Weightlifting at California Strength after a Division 1 collegiate football career as a running back and a lifetime of team sports. Wes has always had a passion for training and coaching others. He has been working with teams and individuals to achieve their performance and fitness goals since 2013. He has also assisted at California Strength in developing a number of NFL athletes and prospects as he lead the team and became the first member of the organization to achieve an Olympic spot as a weightlifter.
Assistant Head Coach
Ryan Metzger
Ryan Metzger is a distinguished athlete and accomplished strength and conditioning coach with a deep passion for Olympic weightlifting. Her athletic journey includes standout achievements such as a personal best snatch of 81kg and clean and jerk of 100kg. She has multiple top-three finishes in National competition. Ryan's coaching career began at the University of Kentucky, where she started as an intern and progressed to roles at Virginia Commonwealth University, Clemson University, and presently serves as the Assistant Director of Sports Performance at the University of Tennessee. Ryan holds a Master of Science from the University of Kentucky, and is currently pursuing an MBA at the University of Tennessee. She is recognized for her expertise with certifications including CSCS-NSCA, RSCC-NSCA, SCCC-CSCCa.
